Coronary CT Angiography

CT Coronary Angiography is a non-invasive diagnostic method used to assess the condition of the heart’s blood vessels. This examination allows for a detailed and precise visualization of the structure of the coronary arteries.

During the procedure, a contrast agent is injected into a vein, which helps to detect arterial narrowing (stenosis), calcium deposits, and other pathologies. As a result, a three-dimensional image of the coronary vessels is obtained.

This method is fast, painless, does not require hospitalization, and is considered an alternative to invasive catheter angiography.

The examination is performed using a Siemens Somatom Go. All (64 slice) scanner.

Main features:

• Method: Computed tomography (CT) performed with intravenous administration of a contrast agent

• Non-invasive: No need to insert a catheter into the artery

• Purpose: To provide a detailed view of narrowing, blockage, or other issues in the coronary arteries

• Result: Obtaining three-dimensional images of the heart vessels

• Duration: The scanning process takes approximately 10–15 minutes

Advantages:

• Non-invasive: No catheterization required

• Fast: Performed in less time compared to conventional angiography

• Safe: Minimal risk of complications compared to invasive methods

• Accurate: Allows detection of both calcified and soft plaques
